When I look back at the experience I had at my first contra dance, it’s a wonder I ever went back for more.
I remember that we were doing a circle dance. I got so dizzy swinging that I fell to the floor, inside the circle. To get to the safety and security of the wall, I had to crawl on hands and knees through the circle of dancers. My partner fell, too, but I don’t know what happened to her. I never saw her again! I just slithered out of the hall at that point.
